National Polytechnic now offering Associate of Science in Health Information Technology

SAN DIEGO - National Polytechnic College of Science now offers of an Associate of Science degree in Health Information Technology. This two-year degree program is offered entirely online and is designed is designed to prepare students in one of the ten fastest growing career fields in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Through the program students will be prepared for the health care workforce and to continue their educational path. Students will learn the essential skills to help prepare them for a career in this growing health care field. Students will be prepared to sit for the National Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist (NCICS) Exam and/or the American Health Information Management Association, (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate, CCA exam.

The degree program consists of twelve courses totaling 60 quarter units and six general education courses totaling 30 quarter units.

  • Medical Coding and Billing I
  • Medical Coding and Billing II (Prerequisites: MB 210)
  • Medical Coding and Billing III (Prerequisites: MLB 212)

  • Issues and Trends in Health Care
  • Management Information Systems
  • Reimbursement Methodologies
  • Spanish in the Professional Workplace for English Speakers
